Congratulations to our Firefighters who had the backbone to quit a fear-based Town

The majority of us have all worked for that Employer who placed a lot of policies and yardsticks everywhere.  This is a workplace based on fear.

An employer who uses fear overpowers any form of trust.  And in the case of Stacy Tebo, she is not confident in her own managerial abilities so prefers to manipulate others and work from a backend to eliminate any employees who she considers more intellectual or more personable than herself.

It takes time to realize that one accepted a position in a fear-based environment.  We just can’t bear to think that we took a new job in a broken company.  BUT ANYBODY WITH A BACKBONE, LIKE KEVIN PITTMEN, WILL NOT LAST WORKING FOR A FEAR INDUCING TOWN MANAGER OR COMPANY.

People with a backbone don’t need control mechanisms to keep themselves from using their native smarts and ingenuity and Kevin Pittman was such a man as were those of his firefighters.  Rhett Bullard felt that the firefighters, if they read Stacy Tebo’s Memorandum would turn against Kevin Pittman….but this will never be the case.  Stacy Tebo is not a Leader.  Kevin Pittman was a leader who anyone would follow.

In a healthy culture managers and HR people specialize in listening to employees, assist in problem solving and celebrate successes envisioning further successes.  Kevin Pittman was such a man.  Without him we would not have had as many certified firefighters who loved their jobs and who Kevin Pittman assisted them in every step of the way.  They became a family with the same goals each having additions to the greater whole to volunteer for our town.

In a fear-based environment, people are afraid to tell the truth because they know no one wants to hear it.  The Town Council has operated in that manner for years.  They never wished to hear the truth or to follow the laws for which Joe stipulated were broken.  Kevin Pittman would tell the truth but what good would it do.  Stacy never wished to hear the truth.  She has never been helpful to any of the employees nor has she assisted them in any way.  In fact, she doesn’t know what any of them do.

In a fear-based workplace, following the rules, policies and avoiding blame are the top priorities.  In just reading statements under oath from many of these people, one can see the lies which are continual to cover their arses.  Anita Rivers likewise could not take the doom and gloom of a manager who set forth various policies, would not take the blame for anything or the fact that she was to blame, and if you screwed up just once or talked to the wrong people, you could be fired.

Kevin Pittman has put up with a lot and great leaders with backbones do not need to be put down as Stacy Tebo did with her so called micromanagement.  Without Kevin we would not have had such great firefighters nor would the building Franklin’s restaurant was in be saved.  The entire group of row-house commercial sites would have been burned down.

He has assisted his fire fighters in understanding the new codes; he has spent his own time in serving others on his team; he has assured that the equipment the town owns has been serviced and he had great hopes, passion and goals for the future.

Stacy Tebo should have assisted the Fire Department with reports, or allowed computerization to remain since Andrew certainly didn’t do anything.   She should have asked whether the instructor certificate was still valid and if not, offered payment to the Fire Chief to take the 40 hour course so he could continue and sign the certificates. Since these are all volunteers, she could have paid for each to take the firefighter course and if there was a concern a fire fighter would leave, make a contract that if they remain for one year, the money would not have to be reimbursed.  She likewise should have paid a small sum of money for each fire call of $20-30 to pay for fuel and wear and tear on firefighter vehicles for each call.

Even throwing all of that out, Kevin served his team well by helping them pass and providing White Springs with the greatest fire department ever.  The Fire Department is equal in stature to the Police Department; and as I understand it, the police  can maintain their vehicles as needed….or they should be able to do so.  Then likewise, Kevin Pittman as the Fire Chief should have the ability to have the fire engines maintained; have additional equipment purchased for the fire fighters such as breathing packs.  Since when does our fire department have to beg borrow and steal from other fire departments to have enough equipment to survive a bad fire?.  If the Town is talking liability, it is not Liability caused by Kevin Pittman but by the Town if something happens to one of the volunteers who has asked for safety gear.

Yes I am upset for me because there will be another $1,250 in insurance expense once the ISO finds out…and I am upset for others whose insurance will go up and for those without insurance, the fact that their buildings may burn down and they will have nothing.  Yet I am so happy for the firefighters and the Chief who stood up against this fear based Town.

I AM REALLY PROUD OF KEVIN PITTMAN AND HIS TEAM OF FIREFIGHTERS.  THERE IS NO HOPE IN A FEAR-BASED WORKPLACE AND EVEN IF ONE DOES NOTHING WRONG, YOU WILL BE BLAMED.  IT SHOWS HOW STRONG EACH OF YOU FIREFIGHTERS ARE AND WE KNOW YOU HAVE A BACKBONE BECAUSE YOU STOOD UP TO SOMEONE WHO HAS CAUSED SO MUCH HARM TO SO MANY IN THIS TOWN.

UNTIL RHETT B ULLARD, TONJA BROWN, WILLIE JEFFERSON  AND STACY TEBO ARE REMOVED FROM OFFICE BECAUSE OF NON-SERVINGTHE CITIZENS OF WHITE SPRINGS OR FULFILING THEIR FIDUCIARY RESPONSIBILITIES,  ALONG WITH CURRENT STAFF MEMBERS, PAM TOMLINSON, AND ANDREW GREEN, THERE IS NO HOPE FOR THIS TOWN.  Collaborating, experimenting and having fun while doing ONE’S JOB are not part of the Town’s criteria.  AND WE NEED TERM LIMITS.  SOME OF THESE OFFICIALS HAVE BEEN ON THE COUNCIL FOR YEARS AND THERE ARE NO NEW IDEAS AND PLENTY OF STAGNANT BIASED OPINIONS THAT NEED TO BE REMOVED.

CONGRATULATIONS GUYS AND GALS OF THE WHITE SPRINGS FIRE RESCUE FOR HAVING THE BACKBONE TO STICK UP FOR YOUR BELIEFS.  HAD YOU ALL REMAINED, IN TIME YOU WOULD NOT HAVE BELIEVED IN YOURSELVES BECAUSE OF THE MANNER IN WHICH YOU ARE ALL TREATED…AND THAT IS NOT A GOOD SIGN FOR ANY EMPLOYEE ESPECIALLY FIRE FIGHTERS AND POLICE WHO HAVE TO MAKE DECISIONS ON THE MOMENT.  YOU ARE VOLUNTEERS WHO HAVE PLACED IN MANY HOURS TO SERVE US FOR FREE AND DO NOT DESERVE THE TREATMENT YOU HAVE RECEIVED.

BY THE WAY KEVIN PITTMAN, NO ONE WOULD CARE ON A RESUME IF the public records showed a forced termination BY WHITE SPRINGS, BECAUSE EVERYONE KNOWS HOW CORRUPT OUR TOWN IS/WAS AND THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE LASTED AS LONG AS YOU HAVE AND DONE AS MUCH AS YOU HAVE, MAKES YOU A VERY FAVORABLE CANDIDATE IN WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE TO ENDEAVOR.
